Kal David – Blues and Conversation – Sept 24, 2011

Artist “Spot”light

About a month ago Bill Calabrese asked if I would be interested in recording a special concert by Blues guitarist Kal David. Usually Kal plays with a full band and performed with them on Saturday Oct 1st 2011 at Infinity Hall from which this video is taken. Based on the acoustic performance and the video taken below I would recommend you catch Kal live if you get a chance.

Kal has so many stories about being in the music business since the 60′s that the show ran over a little bit, but nobody complained. Some of the more interesting stories involved being signed by the same record label as The Beatles at the time when they were becoming popular.  Driving by a car that was playing a hit by his band The Fabulous Rhinestones along with all the people Kal has played with over the years. The stories were intermingled with original music along with some of his favorite songs that he has played over the years. The Shaboo Inn was mentioned, which was one of the most popular places to see bands in the Willimantic area in the 70′s and early 80′s which added some local color to the stories. Kal was also accompanied by his wife Lauri Bono singing along on a few of the songs.

The event was held at The Breadbox Folk Theater in Willimantic, CT and was followed by Kal signing autographs and mingling with the crowd.

Please enjoy the title track from his new album “Crossroads of My Life”

“Living on My Own Time”

“My Oh My” featuring Lauri Bono
