HOT Rewind

It’s been a crazy week for sure.  I did get my ride back (who knew a silly key could cost so much!  The Flounce is very expensive!)  Thanks to my peeps for carting me around and the car loans!  <3

String Theorie at Liquid Lounge

Antics continued at Liquid Lounge last Friday night at the CT Science Center (mustaches for everyone!).  Not only did we get to check out the building, but we caught another excellent performance by our friends, String Theorie .  I just love those guys.  Ran into Chip McCabe (http://www.facebook.com/#!/bandshow)  filming for CT.com (hmm.  I recall being filmed answering a question (edit room floor).  Also checking out the show were Jennifer Hill from Jennifer Hill & Company and Neal Spencer from Heirlooms .  It’s nice to see local bands supporting local bands that way.  Note to Jen…Chip McCabe is in need of a “mustaching”!  Wait.  Can you mustache a dude who already has a mustache?

The mayhem continued Saturday night at Bandwith Karaoke in at Center Station in Berlin.  The place was packed.  Mike was surprised to find that the men’s room doubles as a meeting space for old friends.  You just never know.  Very cool to see Amy Ronczka from Stark Raving LuLu, Sean Lord and Christine Logan from Reckless Abandon, and Mark Rochette from Suckerfish participating in the fun.

SURPRISE!!!!

And finally, we took in a part of the Local Band Showcase at Daniel Street this past Wednesday.  Saw cool sets by Beijing  – The Fairfield Mirror just did a great review of their EP, It’s Not So Simple and Sneaky Castro (LOVE that name!).

That’s it for this week.  I’m going to slow it down next week so I can be fresh as a daisy for my upcoming trip to Philly for Popped Fest.  Woot!

“Spot”light on…Fall Fairs

I know.  I know.  I should have thought of this a few weeks ago.  Smh.  It’s nearing fall (yes people, it IS still summer!)  Like most of you, I’m sure, I love fair time.  It’s extra special for me because I live in a “fair town”.  lsg factoid…I am a professional (well, I’ve been doing it for 6 years so I think that makes me professional…) Fried Dough Fryer at the Berlin Fair.  Every Saturday of the fair (this year Oct 1), I don a lovely yellow fried dough hat and I create fried dough goodness for hours.  You’ll have to come by and point and laugh!

So join me in some fried Twinkies, turkey legs, and lots of draft beer!  I will see you at the fair!

Lisa Sanchez Gonzalez aka lsg

Lover of music and the visual arts, Lisa Sanchez Gonzalez is the insanity behind lsg original photography. lsg specializes in artist and performer photography. She’s had the honor of photographing national bands such as Weezer, Snoop Dogg, A Simple Plan, Paramore, Whitesnake, Wye Oak, and The Antlers along with countless local bands and performers.

Hailing from Hartford, CT, Lisa is a life- long music connoisseur. Growing up, her mother exposed her to everything from The Stones to Simon and Garfunkel to Earth, Wind, and Fire to Loretta Lynn…and everything in between. No genre was left unexplored in her vinyl collection. She saw her first concert at 14…Rod Stewart at the (then called) Hartford Civic Center. Thirty years later, it’s still her favorite pastime.

Lisa has two kids (grown!) and a day job. Her loves of music and photography have melded into a second career. And her love of CT keeps her promoting and pushing for local artists and performers. Lisa spends the greater part of her free time seeing and shooting live bands, performers, and artists and art work…and purchasing vinyl!

2 Responsesto “lsg spot – Smoking in the boys room – Sept 16 2011”

  1. I had to pee so bad, but couldn’t get in to the bathroom at Center Station. That picture explains why! Thanks for rocking with us at Center Station. We’re back there October 8 for more mayhem, in and out of the men’s room. (And, of course, catch us every Friday at Coach’s in downtown Hartford.) You rock, LSG!
