HOT Rewind
So the elves they dance, they shake their bones…And so went SantaCon Hartford 2011.
Before I tell you about it, I need to thank everyone…attendees, performers, anonymous “Santa”s…for helping raise nearly $500 to help some folks who need it. Through your generosity, we can provide some basketball uniforms to Hartford children in a Saturday basketball league and gifts for mothers and their children seeking refuge at The Hartford Interval House. I don’t know about you, but that makes me feel damned good. You all ROCK!
So, we had about 100 Santa’s, elves, toy soldiers, and reindeer at our peak per stop. Each of the establishments held a special surprise…Drink specials at Black Bear Saloon, Burlesque from Hartford’s own, Beat City Beauties at Black Eyed Sally’s, a performance by Sara Hart from She Eats Planets at The Russian Lady, a performance by Dave Hogan at McKinnon’s, and finally, performances by Sidewalk Dave and The Manchurians at Arch Street Tavern. Wow! What a night. We had dancing elves, Mrs Claus on a stripper pole, and Santa in a Sombrero. Does it get any better than that? I don’t think so! But I’ll let a few pictures tell the story.
Thanks to everyone – Especially The Beat City Beauties, Sara, and Dave – for another successful SantaCon season. Hope to see you all…and all your friends…next year!!!
Support LOCAL! And, as always…
Occupy a VENUE!!
“Spot”light on…Gearing Up for Year End
As my friend Jason in Missouri would say…there’s a shit ton to do this weekend in CT. Lots of bands. Lots of venues. I’m still a bit under the weather so I plan on taking it easy and starting my year end lists. I’d really like to hear what YOU think were the best bands and best CD’s of 2011. Give me a shout!

Lisa Sanchez Gonzalez aka lsg
Lover of music and the visual arts, Lisa Sanchez Gonzalez is the insanity behind lsg original photography. lsg specializes in artist and performer photography. She’s had the honor of photographing national bands such as Weezer, Snoop Dogg, A Simple Plan, Paramore, Whitesnake, Wye Oak, and The Antlers along with countless local bands and performers.
Hailing from Hartford, CT, Lisa is a life- long music connoisseur. Growing up, her mother exposed her to everything from The Stones to Simon and Garfunkel to Earth, Wind, and Fire to Loretta Lynn…and everything in between. No genre was left unexplored in her vinyl collection. She saw her first concert at 14…Rod Stewart at the (then called) Hartford Civic Center. Thirty years later, it’s still her favorite pastime.
Lisa has two kids (grown!) and a day job. Her loves of music and photography have melded into a second career. And her love of CT keeps her promoting and pushing for local artists and performers. Lisa spends the greater part of her free time seeing and shooting live bands, performers, and artists and art work…and purchasing vinyl!
