I felt like I could have easily been in a booth commentating as a who’s who of local musicians and media streamed into Billings Forge on Saturday night for String Theorie’s “Little Elephant” CD release party.  The room was filled to capacity with standing room only right to the doors.  This was not your “ordinary” CD release party.  Complete with reserved seating, a gorgeous set, and a film crew (David and Nina Salazar, and Helder Mira), String Theorie performed songs from their Little Elephant release along with some old favorites. Each song was perfection and even

included special guests.  Opening act, Glenn Roth, worked magical guitar in advance of the String Theorie sets.  Go out and pick up both Glenn’s CD, “Into The Unknown” and “Little Elephant”!  You won’t be disappointed.

I have procrastinated as much as possible now and SWAN Day is upon all of us.  It’ll be a nail biter to see if I manage to pull off a table at the show to display my photographs!  I am looking forward to an amazing show.  Please make it to SWAN Day CT if you can.  It’s an amazing show pulled together by a woman who I respect and admire and who has one of the biggest hearts I know, Ms. Jennifer Hill.  Support Woman Artists Now – and we’ll see you on Saturday!  PS My blog picture today is my tribute to SWAN.  The lovely woman in the hat is Ms. Jen Hill and woman in the background is Ms. Anni Kerlin, a 1st year SWAN who knitted the hat Jen is wearing.

For the most part, I listen to CD’s in my car.  Yes.  I am one of those few who doesn’t have an MP3 player of some sort in my car or at home.  I LIKE tangible music!  So, at any given time, there is usually a local CD that I’m digging while driving to and fro.  Since I receive so many and want to talk about them, I am going to add to my video of the week with a “What’s playing in The Flounce?” each week.  (Note:  The Flounce is my pet name for my car that came about from a text auto correct misfire)  =)

This time next week!

Lisa Sanchez Gonzalez – lsg Original

Lover of music and the visual arts, Lisa Sanchez Gonzalez is the insanity behind lsg original photography. lsg specializes in artist and performer photography. She’s had the honor of photographing national bands such as Weezer, Snoop Dogg, A Simple Plan, Paramore, Whitesnake, Wye Oak, and The Antlers along with countless local bands and performers.

Hailing from Hartford, CT, Lisa is a life- long music connoisseur. Growing up, her mother exposed her to everything from The Stones to Simon and Garfunkel to Earth, Wind, and Fire to Loretta Lynn…and everything in between. No genre was left unexplored in her vinyl collection. She saw her first concert at 14…Rod Stewart at the (then called) Hartford Civic Center. Thirty years later, it’s still her favorite pastime.

Lisa has two kids (grown!) and a day job. Her loves of music and photography have melded into a second career. And her love of CT keeps her promoting and pushing for local artists and performers. Lisa spends the greater part of her free time seeing and shooting live bands, performers, and artists and art work…and purchasing vinyl!
