This past weekend, I had the extreme pleasure of attending my first ever masquerade ball!!! The Aging Rock Stars(http://www.agingrockstars.com/) put this on at The High Lane Club(http://highlaneclub.com/) in North Haven on Saturday night. I had, well a ball! There was a whole lot of music, both from the Aging Rock Stars ensemble & The Navels(http://thenavels.com/). Lots of people dancing & just a whole lot of great vibes & fun in the room. The Aging Rock Stars hold a lot of these events at the club, including hosting a Halloween & New Years Eve Ball. Keep an eye on their website to see what they may have coming up next, because it’s well worth it…$15 a tic & BYOB for a really great time. I just uploaded a video of some of the great music on my you tube channel(http://www.youtube.com/user/LuckySoulsProduction).

After masquerading, myself & my music loving compadre headed over to The Outer Space in Hamden to catch some reggae from I Anbassa(http://www.ianbassamusic.com/). Simply amazing. If you are a fan of reggae & haven’t seen these guys, well you should get out to see them as soon as possible. I can guarantee that they won’t disappoint you. Sorry no video on this one, because this girl was too busy shakin’ her hips to do any taping. You can find music & videos on their website though, so check it out.

On Sunday, I had the pleasure of seeing Avi Wisnia(http://aviwisnia.com/) at The Outer Space(so, if you’re not seeing a theme to my blogs yet, it would be The Outer Space! My home away from home). Avi’s website describes him as ‘Ben Folds meets Norah Jones, if they had a lovechild in Brazil.’ And I have to say, that is pretty accurate, plus he’s very personable & funny. I was very happy that I got to see him perform. He’s currently touring & heading down to SxSw, but has lots of New Jersey & New York dates coming up over the next few months. If you happen to be in area where he’s playing, try to see him.

I’m hoping that you’ll all be out supporting your local musicians & venues this week & weekend. To give you a little encouragement, here’s a list of a few things happening over the next few days in New Haven & Fairfield counties:

Aim D’Amaro – Lucky Souls Productions

By the time she was 12, Amy D’Amaro knew that she wanted a career that would keep her surrounded by music. At 16, she became an intern at WPLR radio in New Haven, CT where she would stay for 5 yrs learning all aspects of music programming at a commercial radio station. In the time that she was at WPLR, she also became friends with many musicians on the local scene & spent much of her time taking in music at venues all over New Haven County.

In 1993, Amy left the radio station to raise her son, but her love of music & the local scene never faded. In 2003 she began what would become a very successful dog walking & pet sitting service, but still spent much of her time checking out the local music scene in both New Haven & Fairfield Counties. In 2009 she began Lucky Souls Productions to help out the local musicians she knew by promoting their music through live video footage. In 2011, Lucky Souls grew & began booking musicians in some of the local venues. When not busy walking dogs or editing videos, Amy still spends much of her time out with friends, supporting the local music scene & venues & attending music festivals.
