HOT Spotlight…The Spaceland Ballroom
THIS COMING FRIDAY NIGHT (3/15), Hamden welcomes a new venue that rounds out a trifecta of excellent venues for live music – The Spaceland Ballroom. Spaceland joins sister venues, The Space and The Outerspace located at 295 Treadwell Street.
For those of you who haven’t experienced either of the original venues, Spaceland is a bigger venue outfitted with a large stage, amazing light rigging, and sound system complete with hanging amps and 3 stage monitors. The room has its own bar and will be able to accommodate approximately 300 music lovers.
The room itself is physically attached to the cabaret-style Outerspace that caters to acts that are a bit more on the mellow side. It also has a full wine and beer bar. Across the parking lot, is the “middle child” in size, The
Space. The Space is bigger than the Outer Space with a good stage that has attracted many national acts in the past. This venue is a juice bar for all ages attendance.
The Spaceland Ballroom had a very successful soft opening this past weekend with Amanda Kaletsky, Beth Patella, and NorthShore Troubadours. The grand opening on Friday night, featuring The Mighty Purple (Steve and Jonny Acoustic Duo) is expected to draw a capacity crowd (nearly 200 FB responses at post time).
I recently had the opportunity to get a tour of the completed venue. It is a lovely room with original stained glass windows and beautiful hardwood floors. The room received a cosmetic makeover with the addition of acoustic ceiling tiles, a large stage that has already accommodated 3 drum kits, and an amazing light and sound system. I can’t wait to see a band blow the roof off the place!!
