HOT Rewind

It’s been a couple of weeks.  Lots happened and even more is going to happen!

I SAW TWO AMAZING Burlesque shows.  I’ll let the pictures tell the story!

SOUNDGARDEN PLAYED The Oakdale in Wallingford on 5/17.  A couple of us from LBR, Julie from CTGirlAboutTown, Meghan and Adam from Bedroom Rehab Corporation, and a few other friends all took in the show.  The show was excellent with Chris Cornell and the boys in great form although the sound wasn’t what it should have been, which was unfortunate.  I want to give a huge thanks and shout out to Toyota of Wallingford (looking at you, Joshua Rippe) for graciously accommodating our merry band of concert goers in their sky box for the show!  Cheers to YOU!!

I FINALLY HAD THE PLEASURE of catching a Ryan Montbleau show 5/18 at Spaceland Ballroom in Hamden.  A show brought to you by Lucky Souls, the bill also included Frank Viele, another first show for me.  I cannot begin to tell you how much I loved this bill!  Both performers perfectly complemented each other.  The room was set up cabaret-style so we all had this warm, chill feeling as each played an acoustic set.  Both are charismatic and talented and connected well with the audience via song and between-song banter.  I am so very happy I finally saw both!  Oh and…I am the proud new owner of yet another fantastic piece of vinyl…Ryan’s “For Higher”.  Get it.  You’ll love it!  Here are my pix:

DAYTROTTER.COM PICKED a true winner when they asked CT’s Hannah Fair to play for one of their amazing Daytrotter Sessions.  We are so proud of her here in CT.  You can listen to the session here!/concert/hannah-fair/20056650-37383767&playerLoadAndPlayConcert=20056650-37383767  and you can read our review of her latest album, “Open Road” here!  Congrats to Hannah!

NEW RECORDS, NEW RECORDS are being released in the coming weeks here in CT!  Here are a few:

Erik Lamb – “Guns Talk, Money Whispers” – The album is hot!  You can get a rough cut listen here…  His CD Release Show is May 24 at The Oasis in New London.

Post-Modern Panic – Untitled as-of-yet – You can hear a teaser (and purchase) the first single from the album, “Mia” here… The official CD Release will be on June 21 at Arch Street in Hartford.

Tetramer – “Another Public Meltdown” – 5 track ep chock full of hard-driving rock and excellent harmonies.  Alexander Brunetti Cohen is a beast on his kit!  Bonus:  some lovely piano work.  Dig it here…  CD Release Party will be June 28 at Sully’s in Hartford.

Julie Beman – “There Is No Winter Here” – Doesn’t have a release date just yet (she’s looking at June) but I’ve been fortunate to get a teaser advance.  I deem it – “Sexy. Fun. Pretty. So amazingly easy to listen to. Soothing. Something I can dance around to on a Sunday morning as I go about things.”  We’ll keep you posted on the release!

SO MANY HOT SHOWS have been announced!  I’ll talk about stuff coming from Manic Productions, a special tour featuring Freedy Johnston (1), Radio 104, and Lucky Souls…as well as anyone else I may have missed…next week!

As always, occupy a venue and get out there and support local!!

Peace, lsg

Lisa Sanchez Gonzalez – lsg Original

Lover of music and the visual arts, Lisa Sanchez Gonzalez is the insanity behind lsg original photography. lsg specializes in artist and performer photography. She’s had the honor of photographing national bands such as Weezer, Snoop Dogg, A Simple Plan, Paramore, Whitesnake, Wye Oak, and The Antlers along with countless local bands and performers.

Hailing from Hartford, CT, Lisa is a life- long music connoisseur. Growing up, her mother exposed her to everything from The Stones to Simon and Garfunkel to Earth, Wind, and Fire to Loretta Lynn…and everything in between. No genre was left unexplored in her vinyl collection. She saw her first concert at 14…Rod Stewart at the (then called) Hartford Civic Center. Thirty years later, it’s still her favorite pastime.

Lisa has two kids (grown!) and a day job. Her loves of music and photography have melded into a second career. And her love of CT keeps her promoting and pushing for local artists and performers. Lisa spends the greater part of her free time seeing and shooting live bands, performers, and artists and art work…and purchasing vinyl!
