HOT Rewind

Well, officially, the white wardrobe has gone back to the closet for another year.  Sigh…I can’t believe we are already slipping into fall.  But, there’s lots going on to keep us all going!

ISAAC YOUNG AND STRING THEORIE helped open up a new venue on Aug. 30.  The Third Rail in Cromwell offers food, drink, live music, and a deck!  There is also a fantastic sound system as well as excellent lighting.  Contact the venue if your band would like to book at date there.

I ALSO MANAGED to get to a second show that same Friday.  Arc City Angels from Springfield performed during 80’s night at Sully’s Pub in Hartford.  It was the second time I’ve seen them there.  They are a blast to watch and play a wide variety of popular rock tunes along with some originals.  Catch em if you can!

Check out this Scene Queen lsg on the Fly episode I did with them outside Sully’s…

I SPENT SUNDAY at The Third Rail as well checking out some of my favorite rock goddesses from Stark Raving Lulu.  It’s been a while since I rocked out with them.  They never disappoint!  And the unexpected bonus of the day?  Burlesque from lovelies Dot Mitzvah and Vivienne Laflamme.  What a wonderful surprise!

YET ANOTHER SCENE QUEEN lsg will be out soon featuring Backyard Committee, Seth Adam, and Elle Sera.  We caught all 3 bands/performers at a very cool open mic at Stella Blues in New Haven.  They were all terrific and so much fun to film!  They will all be releasing new albums at a record release extravaganza on October 5 at Spaceland Ballroom in Hamden.  You should go!

“Spot”light on… Ceschi Ramos/Fake Four Records

Reprinted from AllHipHop.com

(AllHipHop News) Ceschi Ramos, musician and owner of Fake Four Records, started serving an 18- month prison sentence yesterday (September 4).

The jail time stems from a drug bust on Christmas Day 2010, where Ceschi was charged with purchasing over 100 pounds of marijuana that was shipped cross-country from California to Connecticut, colorfully wrapped as Christmas gifts.

A plea bargain helped Ceschi avoid a 5–7 year sentence for the conviction.

Since yesterday, an IndieGoGo web page started by Ceschi’s brother, David Ramos has raised over $15,000 to help with legal fees and administrative costs for the record label during Ceschi’s prison term.

Ceschi says, “In the end, nearly 3 years later, I’ve been left with nearly $50,000 in legal debt. My best option was to accept a plea bargain compared to the 5 to 7 years I was facing.”

Fake Four records is a popular independent record label specializing in Experimental Hip-Hop which has released dozens of acclaimed albums by artists such as Myka 9, Blue Sky Black Death, Dark Time Sunshine, Open Mike Eagle, and Busdriver.

“Your support over the past 24 hours has been overwhelming. My brother now has an additional government issued number to add to his tax i.d., Social Security, and driver’s license numbers. In other words, he has been processed, now has an inmate number, and hopefully I will be able to see him today,” added Ceschi’s brother David Ramos. “I can’t express the magnitude of appreciation that my family and I have for all of you right now. Beyond the financial support, you have proven that Ceschi has influenced and positively impacted so many people with his music, Fake Four, and just being who he is. He is not just another prison number to all of us.”

Lisa Sanchez Gonzalez – lsg Original

Lover of music and the visual arts, Lisa Sanchez Gonzalez is the insanity behind lsg original photography. lsg specializes in artist and performer photography. She’s had the honor of photographing national bands such as Weezer, Snoop Dogg, A Simple Plan, Paramore, Whitesnake, Wye Oak, and The Antlers along with countless local bands and performers.

Hailing from Hartford, CT, Lisa is a life- long music connoisseur. Growing up, her mother exposed her to everything from The Stones to Simon and Garfunkel to Earth, Wind, and Fire to Loretta Lynn…and everything in between. No genre was left unexplored in her vinyl collection. She saw her first concert at 14…Rod Stewart at the (then called) Hartford Civic Center. Thirty years later, it’s still her favorite pastime.

Lisa has two kids (grown!) and a day job. Her loves of music and photography have melded into a second career. And her love of CT keeps her promoting and pushing for local artists and performers. Lisa spends the greater part of her free time seeing and shooting live bands, performers, and artists and art work…and purchasing vinyl!
